- Historic Barn Adaptive Reuse
A concept for the adaptive reuse of a historic timber-framed farm barn, developed to transform the existing agricultural structure into an event and wedding venue while preserving its rural character.
The proposal retains the barn’s original massing, gabled roofline and weathered board-and-batten exterior, introducing a glazed timber-frame gable wall that follows the geometry of the historic structure. The new intervention brings natural light and long views into the interior while allowing the existing architectural identity of the barn to remain legible.
The surrounding landscape is treated as part of the architectural composition, with mature trees retained for screening and additional understory planting used to settle the building into the site. According to the project documentation, the concept secured the required municipal approval for the proposed conversion.
